KITCHEN KNIFE TRINITY

There are a lot of knives out there. Finding what’s right for you is the most important. A kitchen knife? A hunting knife? A camping knife?  Not all knives are created equal and not all knives work for everyone.  The three basic knives we believe everyone should have for prepping good eats in the kitchen and outdoors are: a chef's knife, a paring knife, and a utility knife. The rest are just “luxury”, they may make prepping food easier, but they aren’t crucial for everyday use.  At DFACKTO, we believe that you should have a mix of knives for all tasks both in and out of the kitchen. Read on to find out what’s best in the kitchen:    DFACKTO 8" Chef's Knife[/caption]   The Chef’s Knife This is the most important knife to have in your kitchen. The Chef’s Knife is usually the first knife you pick up when cooking and the last one to be put down.  A Chef’s Knife will work for about 90% of everything you need to do when prepping a meal.  With a blade between 6 and 10 inches long, it’s mostly used for chopping. A classic Chef’s Knife blade curves upward toward the tip.  Longer blades can feel cumbersome without the right grip, and require a larger open counter area to avoid stabbing kitchen clutter.    3.5" Paring Knife DFACKTO 3.5" Paring Knife[/caption]   The Paring Knife A much smaller version of the Chef’s Knife, the Paring Knife has a blade that ranges from 2 to 4 inches long. The rule of thumb – if you think you’ll lose a thumb, it’s time to switch to a Paring Knife when accomplishing a delicate task. Paring knives are ideal for:
  • Peeling thin-skinned fruits and vegetables
  • Cutting the cores out of apple slices or strawberries
  • Removing eyes from potatoes
  • De-veining shrimp
DFACKTO 5.5" Tanto Utility Knife[/caption]   The Utility Knife Don’t be fooled, a utility knife does not need to be a serrated utility knife.  A serrated knife can’t be sharpened.  If you keep your knives nice and sharp, bread, tomatoes, and meat can be sliced through with ease.  Utility Knives are most useful on foods that have one texture on the outside and another inside, like peaches or a tomato. Choose a longer utility knife to minimize the amount of sawing necessary.      your DFACKTO Knives today. Camping and Kitchen Knife Set
